Who is Gebrouwen door Vrouwen?

Two sisters and a kitchen pot

Gebrouwen door Vrouwen started as a hobby for Amsterdam sisters Tessel and Do de Heij. They brewed their first beer in the kitchen and turned it into a real business in 2015. The name says it all: the brand wants to show that brewing and drinking beer are not just for men.

Gebrouwen door Vrouwen does not have its own brewing equipment. The sisters create the recipes and have their beers brewed at other Dutch breweries. This type of brand is also known as a contract brewer or gypsy brewer. In Amsterdam, they do have their own bar, where you can enjoy the beers on tap.

The beers are easy to drink and always have something extra: elderflower, ginger, herbs or fruit. Well-known regular beers include Bloesem Blond, Gember Goud, Gin Weizen and Tricky Tripel. Seasonal beers are also released.

Gember Goud

Spicy and light

You can clearly taste the ginger, with a tingling spiciness. Light-bodied and pleasantly thirst-quenching.

Fruity 3/5
Strength 2/5

How to drink it

How to pour these beers

Drink Gebrouwen door Vrouwen chilled from a glass so you can smell the elderflower and ginger properly.

Chilled, around 5 to 7 degrees

Put the bottles in the fridge for a few hours. If they are too cold, the elderflower and ginger fade into the background. Take the bottle out of the fridge briefly before pouring.

The 75 cl bottle of Bloesem Blond is made for sharing. Pour it at the table into two or three glasses, just like a bottle of wine. Seal an opened bottle tightly and drink it the same day.
