What is The Macallan Double Cask 18 Years?

Eighteen years of collaboration between two types of oak

Double Cask 18 Years is matured exclusively in a carefully selected combination of Oloroso sherry casks made from European and American oak. The collaboration between the two types of wood creates a warm, distinctive style, and the color comes entirely from the wood.

Compared with the 15-year-old, it is deeper and more mature: while the 15 focuses on vanilla and butterscotch, raisins, sultanas and caramel take center stage here, with ginger and citrus keeping it fresh. Like the 15, it is bottled at 43%. A whisky for a birthday, an anniversary or an evening when you are in no hurry.

Everything about The Macallan →
What percentage of alcohol does Macallan Double Cask 18 contain?

What is the difference between Macallan Double Cask 18 and Sherry Oak 18?
Both are 18 years old and 43% ABV. Double Cask matures in Oloroso sherry casks made from both European and American oak, giving it more vanilla, caramel and citrus notes. Sherry Oak matures only in Spanish sherry casks and is darker and spicier.
What does Macallan Double Cask 18 taste like?
Sweet and rich: raisins, sultanas, caramel and vanilla, with ginger and citrus keeping the whisky fresh and lively. The finish is long and warm.
What is the best way to drink Macallan Double Cask 18?
Neat, at room temperature, from a tulip-shaped tasting glass. Let it sit for a few minutes and optionally add two drops of water. Ice dulls the aromas and is a shame with a whisky of this age.
