What is Miraval?

A castle in Provence with a musical past

Château Miraval is located near the village of Correns, inland in Provence. The estate has a long and remarkable history. In 1977, French jazz pianist Jacques Loussier built a recording studio there. Pink Floyd recorded part of The Wall there, and later Sting and Wham!, among others, worked there. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie rented the estate from 2008 and bought it in 2011. They got married there in 2014.

For the wine, they partnered with the Perrin family, whose Château de Beaucastel in the southern Rhône is a renowned estate in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. The first Miraval rosé came onto the market in 2013 and quickly sold out. Studio by Miraval followed in 2019: a lighter and more accessible rosé. The name refers to the castle's recording studio. The rosé label bears IGP Méditerranée, a broader designation of origin for southeastern France. A white Studio by Miraval was added later.

What does Studio by Miraval taste like?

Light, fresh, and fruity

Rosé

Red fruit and citrus

Pale pink, with strawberry, raspberry, and a touch of citrus. Light and fresh, as you would expect from a rosé from the south of France.

Blanc

Soft and fruity

The white is soft in flavor, with white fruit and citrus. Light enough for an aperitif, with enough fruit to accompany a meal.

Magnum

Why choose a large bottle?

A magnum serves about twelve glasses and stays cooler on the table for longer. At a party, one large bottle is also simply an impressive sight.

Fruity 4/5

How to drink it

How to serve Miraval

Well chilled, in a wine glass with a smaller bowl, and preferably outdoors.

At 8 to 10 degrees

Rosé and white wine are best served chilled. Put the bottle in the refrigerator for a few hours and take it out just before serving. A wine cooler or an ice bucket keeps it at the right temperature on the table.

More about wine temperature →

Drink young

Studio by Miraval is made to be enjoyed young, within a year or two of the harvest. That is when the fruit is at its freshest. Once opened, a bottle will keep for a few days in the refrigerator with a stopper.

Chilling a magnum

A magnum needs more time to chill. Put it in the refrigerator overnight, or place it in a bucket with ice and water for half an hour.

What to eat with it

Rosé

Aperitif and tapas

Olives, tapenade, grilled vegetables, and a piece of bread with aioli.

Rosé

Fish and salad

Grilled fish, prawns, a Niçoise salad, or a bouillabaisse.

Blanc

Shellfish

Mussels, oysters, prawns, and a piece of goat cheese.

Magnum

Summer dinner

Barbecued lamb skewers, herb chicken, or a large salad for a group.

Pour rosé and white wine into a wine glass with a smaller bowl, so the wine stays cool and the fruit comes close to your nose. These are the glasses we recommend ourselves.
