Onis
Stand behind any bar in the Netherlands and there’s a good chance the tumbler in your hand comes from Leerdam. Onis makes professional glassware for the hospitality industry: ranges supplied in sets of six or by the box, available for the long term, and made for a dishwasher that runs twenty times on a Friday night.
That doesn’t mean the glasses are boring. The Icon tumblers have a heavy, cut base that catches the light, and they come in pastel shades of light green, pink, and light blue that immediately set them apart from the standard glassware. The Bespoke line offers a 15.5 cl Nick & Nora glass for serving a classic cocktail menu. Hospitality-grade quality with character, rather than hospitality-grade quality without it.

Where does Onis glassware come from?
Onis makes professional glassware with roots in Leerdam, the home of the Dutch glass tradition. The range is aimed at hospitality: series supplied by the six or by the box and kept available for a long time, so you can reorder without changing shape.
Which tumbler size suits whisky?
Between 33 and 39 cl. That volume takes an ice ball or a large cube, and those melt more slowly than four small cubes of the same weight. If you drink it neat without ice, a glass of around 22 cl is enough.
Are Onis glasses dishwasher safe?
Yes, the whole range is built for it. Use a short programme and place glasses upright with space between them. Do not mix glasses of different heights in one rack, because that is where most breakage happens in a professional kitchen.
What is a nick and nora glass?
A small stemmed bowl of around 15 cl, meant for stirred cocktails served without ice. Because the volume is small and your hand does not touch the bowl, the last sip stays as cold as the first.
