Cork catchers

The catcher is an open tray or funnel that you place directly beneath the bottle opener. Every crown cap you pry off a bottle falls into it. At the end of the shift, you can dispose of the contents all at once with the metal waste. This saves time, is safer for your staff, and prevents caps from ending up in floor drains or under refrigerators.

Stainless steel is the standard material because it does not rust in a damp environment and is easy to wipe clean. During installation, pay attention to the distance from the opener: too close and the cork will bounce out, too far below it and it will miss the cup. Mount the catcher on a part of the wall that is easy to reach, and choose plugs suitable for tiled, concrete, or wooden walls.

A cork catcher works best as a set with a wall-mounted bottle opener made from the same material. Choose the same finish for a cohesive, uncluttered look behind the bar. Many hospitality businesses install this combination in several locations: by the tap, near the bottle cooler, and in the kitchen. That way, no one has to walk through the premises with a bottle to open it.

Remove the drip tray daily and rinse it, especially if beer residue remains in it. A dishwasher-safe version makes this even easier. Check occasionally that it is still securely fastened.
